I sit and think.
Moments like this my mind is free.
Surrounded by these four walls.
Shadows coming from the closet
Crawling from underneath the bed
Jumping from dresser drawer to window to floor.
I smile because they look so happy.
Then I laugh and think this child and dog have too much energy.
I would rather be alone with these two
Than to be surrounded by your bad spirits. ~J.A.A.G
I tell these stories as they come to me- they always find me.
One after another, these wide eyed toddlers panting for new stories.
They liked the chills of horror, so they would often ask to be told stories that made switching off their room lights a bit more adventurous.
Almost like their world didn’t have enough thrill so they sought after mediums like their fantasies and my twisted mind to answer life’s questions.
Candle lit silhouettes
Sunlit shadows cast over me
Hide me in your darkness
Protect me from the disconnection ~J.A.A.G
Happy born day to you Anupi.
A Nation can rise no higher than it’s woman.
But all our women are laying down.
Being abused and kicked around.
Broken spirits and naked souls.
This is not the way it’s suppose to go.
Society has our women wrapped around her fingers.
All we’re good for is getting naked and becoming singers.
Entertaining them like puppets,
Dangling from strings.
But see, I’ve been introduced to a world where men respect you.
Open your doors and wouldn’t neglect you.
Call you Queen and wouldn’t force to sex you.
My wardrobe is nothing but the modest.
I’m a natural born goddess.
I cover my hair but not my brain.
Being wrapped in this hijab keeps me sane.
I am a woman of God.
My shadow speaks a million words.

Inspired by my beautiful Queens. Ramadan Mubarak!!!
Before I took this challenge on, I didn’t realize how difficult it was going to be to really capture shadows. But I want to thank my girl Ms. Amber for helping me with this week’s shadow photo. I had a good time playing around during the shoot. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.
So this guy caught this scorpion and cut the head off. It creeped me out but I thought it would be neat to have it as one of my Monday Shadows. It’s amazing what you can find and turn it into art. Hope you enjoy.
It’s always good for photographers to do photo challenges. This keeps them inspired. It also helps you get out of your comfort zone. For the month of June, we’re going to do a photo challenge every Monday of shadows. We tend to focus on people and their expressions majority of the time. Why not focus on that friendly shadow who tags along? Hope you enjoy. Hey, guess what? We love feedback, so don’t be shy, leave a comment or two.
